Katia
Bulbenko
Katia
Bulbenko received her BFA from the Tyler School of
Art at Temple University in Philadelphia, PA. Her
time there afforded her the opportunity to study art
in Rome, Italy, where she furthered her fine art
concentration in an international arena.
After college, she found work at Appleman Autoworks,
Inc., assisting Brooklyn ceramicist, Glenn Appleman.
Interested in involving herself with motivating
art-related work, she moved on to be Assistant
Manager at Eye’s Gallery, in Philadelphia. Her work
there deepened her understanding of global folk art
and exposed her to unique crafts and objects from
Latin American countries. Currently, Bulbenko has
devoted herself to teaching art to children in
Jersey City’s and Hoboken’s Stevens Cooperative
School. She continues to pursue her artistic
endeavors in her personal time.
Bulbenko’s works have been exhibited in a number of
places—from SOFA in Chicago, IL (2006) and the Fifth
International Fiber Biennial at the Snyderman-Works
Gallery in Philadelphia, PA to more local haunts—St.
John’s Church on Palisade Avenue in Weehawken (2007)
and Hoboken’s own Frozen Monkey Café (2005).
The artist currently resides in Weehawken, NJ.
