Patricia Mayleen Wong is originally from Trinidad
and emigrated to the United States to pursue her
studies in the 1970s. In order to pay for her art
classes, she worked days at NBC and went to school
at night, pursuing her real passion. She
consequently has lived in New York, New Jersey and
California.
Wong studied ceramics at Greenwich House in New York
City, Westchester Community College and Clayworks in
Brooklyn, New York. A move to California prompted
her to pursue her interest in art fulltime in 1998.
Living in San Francisco, Wong began to take drawing
and sculpture classes at a studio in Walnut Creek,
CA. She found that her work in California was
influenced by her studies in New York. She began to
find her voice as an artist and found this time
liberating and fruitful with discovery of her
medium.
Upon moving back to the New York/New Jersey
metropolitan area, Wong’s art took a backseat to the
birth of her son, and the start of her family. Now
that her son has reached the age of seven, she is
making her proud return to the arena of art in this,
her debut fine art gallery exhibition.
