NEW FINE ARTS GALLERY
OPENS IN HOBOKEN
GALERIE ATTIENETTE
ART ACROSS THE HUDSON
Hoboken, N.J.
–
The Galerie Attienette will open its doors for the first
time on October 2, 2007 in historic Hoboken, New
Jersey. Katherine Knapp, President and owner of the
gallery, will cut the ribbon at 1:45 PM at the preview
reception. Knapp is committed to bringing a New York
style fine arts gallery to a community that values
culture as an enhancement to the lifestyle of the city.
A second opening reception is slated for Saturday,
October 6th from 5:00-8:00 PM. Exhibiting
artist Leandro M. Velasco Pardo will be on hand at this
inaugural exhibition where his work will be on view
through December 6.
The gallery has been the vision of owner Knapp for
several years, and her plans include working closely
with the art community on special projects. An art
major in college, she understands the creative process,
and the artist’s journey as they explore their private
world. With a sleek and sophisticated look to the
space, changing exhibitions will be presented throughout
the year. Also on view is the work of such well known
artists as Pablo Picasso, Rembrandt Van Rijn, Salvador
Dali and Peter Max.
Knapp comments that “I hope to make it easier for people
to collect work that excites them personally, and that
can become a part of their own personal collection. A
Hoboken gallery, with quality work on view, will make it
simple to acquire art work without going across the
Hudson to New York City. The proximity to NYC will allow
our gallery to be responsive to the active and evolving
contemporary art world.”
Featured in the inaugural show, the striking and
energetic pieces by Columbian born artist Leandro M.
Velasco Pardo include large abstract works that
incorporate indigenous symbols in pieces that pull the
viewer into the artist’s brushstrokes. Velasco Pardo’s
earlier works were figurative; the works on view in this
show represent a new direction in his work. A self
taught artist, he has resided in the USA since 1963. Now
living in New York, exhibitions and awards have
highlighted an international career- Paris, Tokyo,
Columbia, and the cover of Time magazine for his
acclaimed work in stained glass.
