A SALUTE TO WOMEN'S HISTORY MONTH

GALERIE ATTIENETTE SHOWCASES
WORK BY WOMEN ARTISTS

Hoboken, New Jersey – Gallery owner Katherine Knapp knows firsthand of the challenges facing women in business, and as one of the first woman art gallery owners in Hoboken, New Jersey, her goal is to offer talented women, emerging and local artists a place to be seen. Galerie Attienette will present work created by women artists March 6 - April13, 2008 to commemorate Women’s History Month. Opening reception will be Thursday, March 6th from  6 - 9:00 PM at the gallery.

The art world has been traditionally been lead by men and it is often challenging for women to show their art and gain recognition. This show will feature work by well established and emerging artists, and all art will be available for immediate sale. As a woman entrepreneur and gallerist, Knapp is committed to being vocal about the challenges facing the female, as well as local and emerging artists. This exhibition shows a diverse and energetic body of work by women artists, as well as new found works of Salvador Dali.

The fluid and layered abstracts of artist Katia Bulbenko, stand alongside the vibrant monotypes of Rita Herzfeld.  New York City artist harriet regina marion’s mixed media work is culled from the elements of contemporary urban life. The sculptures of artists Patricia Wong and Jeanine Alfieri focus on the female figure, in smaller clay works and larger mixed media work, respectively. Artist Sissi Siska’s images on silk range from the representational to the abstract. Woman artists, each with her own vision, create an arresting show, well worth seeing.

Work by Women Artists will be on view from March 6 - April 13, 2008
